OSTEOSOUND was founded by Megan Buhrmester, a Sonographer with over 25 years of experience in the healthcare field.

Megan was introduced to Echolight’s innovative, radiation-free, REMS technology and immediately knew that it had the potential to enhance the current landscape of bone health analysis. She was one of the first practitioners in Canada and has personally scanned over 4000 people using a mobile unit called the EchoS. This device uses R.E.M.S. (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry) technology, combining ultrasound and radiofrequency to measure bone quantity and quality. The current X-Ray standard only measures the quantity of bone, but research is showing that the quality of bone is a better predictor of fragility and risk of fracture.

Bone health is crucial at all life stages, and this screening can be accessed as early as age 21! The test takes minutes to complete and provides a report including your Bone Mineral Density (BMD/Quantity of bone), the QUALITY of the bone expressed as a Fragility Score (strong/compromised or fragile bone), and a 5-year fracture risk.
